Today we bonded into groups and did some practical work on PCs. I thought that this was helpful because this practice will be put to good use when it comes to the practical part of our assignment. I also made changes to my practical sheet that I will use when troubleshooting PCs. We also looked at different software that can be externally used to troubleshoot other PCs such as anti virus, disk cleaner and image data backup.

I have missed some pieces of work due to having no internet until the 15th of November. My next assignment is due tonight which is U20 A3T1.

Today we spent around two and a half hours reviewing A1T1 for unit 13. Looking at example of my peers work, it was easy to spot mistakes that were related to wording issues, grammar and using the wrong information. I felt that it was embarrassing for me when looking over an example of my work but at the same time, this helped me gain confidence on writing that particular part because the class helped me correct it and suggest how to improve different parts.

The next assignment I have due is a resubmission for Unit 13 which is due the 27th of October. I also have U20 work that is due the 31st of October and U41 work due in November so have some time to make a start on it.

Today we created a 3D model in blender related to food and drink. My original ideas were a Banana and a Takeaway cup but I decided to use the Takeaway cup because it has an easier design. A screenshot of my model can be seen below. We also had a tutor hour session about Dyslexia. We looked at a website and it has improved my awareness off it because I now know how Dyslexia effects people. We also had another tutor hour which was about the importance of both female and male role models. I learnt that more males dominate the STEM career sectors rather than females.

The next assignment I have due is a resubmission for Unit 13 which I dont know the date for as of yet. I also have U20 work that is due the 31st of October and U41 work due in November.

Explain the purpose of a stated website
Create the navigational diagram for a stated website
Create the house style for a stated website
Create screen design for pages for a stated website, including an outline of content

Today we started out next assignment which was about designing our website. This task is very similar to last year which makes it straight forward to understand. I have already completed a big chunk of it including the designs of each webpage. This afternoon we practiced writing JavaScript and I managed to code 3 different types of alert buttons that display different messages and have different outputs. This task will help me write create JavaScript code for my website as I need at least 3 different JavaScript functions for it.

The next assignment I have due is U20 A3T1 which needs to be in before the 31st of October.

Today I worked in Blender to create a key ring in the form of a 3D model. I did some creative research and found three examples of models that I wanted to create being a pumpkin, Mario mushroom and a Rubix Cube. I decided to go with the Rubix cube because it has a simple square shape design. To make it look more smooth, I subdivided the cube then extruded and scaled each individual square which made it stand out. An image of what my final design looks like can be seen below. One thing that I forgot to add was a hole for the keychain to fit into. For the rest of the afternoon I worked towards completing assignments and am glad that I completed most of them so I can look forward to the weekend.

The next assignment I have due is U41 A1T2 which I will complete tonight. I also have a distinction criteria for U20 that I will not be going for.

3/10/2017

Lesson Aim:

Identify and use a suitable approach to troubleshooting and repair process
Identify sources to help you in the troubleshooting and repair process

Learning Outcomes (what the learner will be able to do)

Identify the basic steps required for troubleshooting and repair
Identify different sources that could help you in the troubleshooting and repair process
Rate resources that you have identified in order of use
Identify a range of information to record for the troubleshooting and repair process

Refine a detailed troubleshooting document

Learning Objectives (skills, knowledge & attitudes)

Take notes
Take detailed notes
Research and select relevant information
Develop logical thinking skills and apply these to problem solving tasks

Today I worked with a partner to have a go at installing an operating system onto a PC. The method that we used was with a CD with an OS installer on it. This did not work as we kept getting errors. We then used logical troubleshooting steps in order to try and resolve it. We found out that the hard drive failed so replaced it and tried again. I found this practical straight forward because it was something that I had done before.

The next assignment that I have due is U13 A1T1 which needs to be handed in today. I then have a U20 re submission to complete before the 5th of October and four other pieces of work to hand in before the 6th.

Aims: Discuss how a scripting language can improve functionality
Explore how web pages using scripts are implemented in different browsers

Objectives:
Discuss, with examples how a scripting language can be used to improve the functionality of a website
Research and explain how web pages that do not support scripts implement them.
Create some simple JavaScript functions

Today I learnt about how scripting languages improve the functionality of a website. This includes maintaining cookies, handling forms and browser detection. This will help me with the second part of my assignment. Today was not very interactive because we basically worked on assignments all day but I feel that this has benefited me because I completed a fair amount of work.

The next piece of work that I have due is U13 work that is due tomorrow so I need to complete and submit that before its due.
