Today I set myself two smart targets and managed to accomplish both of them which I am very proud of. I finished one out of the two peice of work that I have due in today so I have to make sure that I submit the other one tonight. We also had a tutor hour on human rights and if I were to introduce a human right myself then I would give the right to create rights yourself. A weakness of today is that I was 1 minute late to class.

The next piece of work that I have due is a Unit 20 resubmission tonight. After this, I have due on the 12th of December.

Work individually or in pairs to match words
Set yourself a new SMART target on your PDP

Today I completed my second practical for Unit 13 and I feel that this one took me less time than the first one, suggesting that my skills in troubleshooting and repair have improved. I knew that the power supply unit was dead because it was written in huge permanent marker pen on the back. The SMART target that I set myself for today was to complete a 3D model for Unit 41 but unfortunately I did not manage to complete it.

I have two assignments both due on Tuesday 5th of December which are U13 A3T1 and a resubmission for Unit 20.

Today we had a dedicated tutor hour about mens physical and mental health. I learnt that over 2000 men in the UK are diagnosed with testicular cancer every year. Like all other forms of cancer, this could lead to death so I learnt that it is extremely important to examine yourself every so often. I managed to create my first 3D model out of six for the assignment. I am not happy with how long that it took because I feel that I could have created multiple models with the time I had today. A weakness of today was learning how to apply a 3D texture and mapping because I still am unsure about it. I think that it is something that I have to get used to doing with practice.

Today we had a tutor hour and looked at national bullying week. I learnt that it is important to respect everyone regardless of any differences because everybody should be treated equally. The opposite of the is treating people unfairly which is seen as bullying. Everyone is treated equally because we are all entitled to education, voting etc. This afternoon, I also improved my record keeping sheet based on the teachers feedback so that it is now improved and up to date. This means I will have a better chance of achieving the grade that I am aiming for which is a Merit. A weakness of today was that me and Ryan did not work well in a group because he did not contribute very much.

The next assignment that I have due is U20 A3T2 on the 27th of November. I also have a resubmission due for U20 due in December.

I spent the whole day today completing the troubleshooting and repair practical and found it more difficult working on my own compared to working in a group. I spent a couple of hours trying to find why nothing was showing on the screen but then the teacher hinted that there was no graphics card installed which left me very annoyed due to how long I had been troubleshooting the PC for. I also ran an anti-virus test which didn't end for some reason. I also learnt that you can turn on LAN in the BIOS of a computer to activate internet.

My next assignment due is U20 A3T2 on the 24th of November.

Today I did some more work on completing my website and I managed to correct my interactive image gallery so the buttons are in  the correct places and all of the images are the exact same size. On the other hand, I did not manage to sort the title in my navigation bar out because it is still sticking to the middle and doesn't move when I use CSS to change the position.

My next deadline is tomorrow and I have two pieces of work due which are both Unit 41. I have no internet at home so I have had to borrow a USB stick off of John to transfer my college work to home and back.

Today I started off my day at college by creating a 3D model in Blender. My ideas were to model Morrison's and Norwich Castle but I went with the castle because I thought that Morrison's was very big and has a lot detail into the roof and the outside. A rendered image of my model can be seen below. A disadvantage of today was that the road was cut off due to road works so busses were not running. I had to walk 40 minutes down the road to try and find a bus. We also looked at the requirements for A3T1/T2/T3

My next deadline is the 14th of November in which A2 is due for unit 41.

Today I worked in Blender to create a key ring in the form of a 3D model. I did some creative research and found three examples of models that I wanted to create being a pumpkin, Mario mushroom and a Rubix Cube. I decided to go with the Rubix cube because it has a simple square shape design. To make it look more smooth, I subdivided the cube then extruded and scaled each individual square which made it stand out. An image of what my final design looks like can be seen below. One thing that I forgot to add was a hole for the keychain to fit into. For the rest of the afternoon I worked towards completing assignments and am glad that I completed most of them so I can look forward to the weekend.

The next assignment I have due is U41 A1T2 which I will complete tonight. I also have a distinction criteria for U20 that I will not be going for.

Today I worked with a partner to have a go at installing an operating system onto a PC. The method that we used was with a CD with an OS installer on it. This did not work as we kept getting errors. We then used logical troubleshooting steps in order to try and resolve it. We found out that the hard drive failed so replaced it and tried again. I found this practical straight forward because it was something that I had done before.

The next assignment that I have due is U13 A1T1 which needs to be handed in today. I then have a U20 re submission to complete before the 5th of October and four other pieces of work to hand in before the 6th.

Today I learnt that gender stereotyping is associating a specific color or product to one gender. An example of this is a Robot toy to a boy or the color pink towards a girl. It also applies to job roles. Today we also used blender to create a 3D model. I followed a tutorial on YouTube and made a polygonal tree.

The next piece of work that I have due is U13 work on the 3rd of October.

Lesson Aim:
Identify and use a suitable approach to troubleshooting and repair process

Learning Outcomes (what the learner will be able to do)

Identify the basic steps required for troubleshooting and repair
Identify the key information to record for the troubleshooting and repair process
Identify a range of information to record for the troubleshooting and repair process
Create a troubleshooting document
Create a detailed troubleshooting document

Learning Objectives (skills, knowledge & attitudes)

Take notes
Take detailed notes
Research and select relevant information
Develop logical thinking skills and apply these to problem solving tasks

Today I created a documentation on the record of fixing a single PC. I feel that I missed a lot of possible things out when creating this as I started working on the PC. I was put into a group and we successfully took apart a PC. We assumed that it needed a motherboard replacement because it was still getting power through it but was not turning on. If we would have had more time, we could have been more precise on what the actual problem was with the PC.

The next assignment that I have due is U13 work which is due the 3rd of October. I then have to complete U20 A2T1 and U41 T1 and T2 which are due on the 6th of October.

Aims: Understand the fundamentals of scripting languages
Structure some JavaScript

Objectives:
Clearly explain JavaScript constructs, with examples
Discuss, using examples, how a scripting language can improve functionality
Correctly structure JavaScript when creating code containing loops, decision making and functions

Today I learnt about the syntax of JavaScript and how loops and decision making blocks of code is executed. I am now confident in talking about each part of statements and stating what each part is and what it does. On the other hand, I still have a lot of work to complete for the second assignment for unit 20. We also used Code Academy to learn how to write JavaScript. I struggled a bit with this.

The next assignment that I have due is U13 work which is due the 3rd of October. I then have to complete U20 A2T1 and U41 T1 and T2 which are due on the 6th of October.

Lesson Aim:
Work on A1T1 and A1T2.
Further understanding of Blender.
Develop research skills.
Understand the importance of constraints when considering 3D modelling

Learning Outcomes:
Use Blender to create examples/evidence to use for A1T2
Develop modelling skills in Blender
Research necessary information for use in A1T1 and A1T2
Shortlist appropriate literature for use in A1T1 and A1T2
Explain how constraints may be considered with regards to 3D modelling.

Learning Objectives:
Work toward completion of A1T1 and A1T2
Submit A1T1/A1T2 for marking
Understand the use of constraints in 3D modelling
Create an object you use every day in Blender

Today I learnt what constraints are and why they are important. The examples that I looked into are polygon count, file size and rendering time. I found that doing our own research and then going through a presentation on the board really helped me understand about them. I need to write everything up in the assignment before I forget about it over the weekend. I also created an everyday object in Blender. It was supposed to be a keyring but turned out to be a Soap.

The next assignment that I have due is U13 work which is due the 3rd of October. I then have to complete U20 A2T1 and U41 T1 and T2 which are due on the 6th of October.

Identify the skills required for troubleshooting and repair
Identify the stages in the customer handover/Acceptance process?
Identify the impact that troubleshooting and repair can have on a business
Identify knock on effects the impact that troubleshooting and repair process can have on a business
Identify the different forms of communication the occur in the troubleshooting / repair process
Provide strategies to reduce impact of troubleshooting and repair process

Learning Objectives (skills, knowledge & attitudes)

Take notes
Take detailed notes
Identify documents / information that may be needed in the troubleshooting and repair process
Identify basic processes
Research and select relevant information

This afternoon we had our Tutor hour which was about the choices that we have after completing college. My original plan was to get an apprenticeship but I am now considering a junior role job but in the same sector of IT that I want to work in. In the rest of the afternoon, I wrote down notes from the textbook about the organisational policies which will be very useful to me when writing up my assignment.

The next assignment that I have due is U13 work which is due the 3rd of October. I then have to complete U20 A2T1 and U41 T1 and T2 which are due on the 6th of October.

Aim: To understand the characteristics and features of scripting languages
Objectives:
State why scripting languages are used on a website and give some specific examples
Explain some characteristics of scripting languages
Complete some JavaScript practical exercises

Today I we started A2T1 for Unit 20 and I managed to complete the first part of it. We had a starter and we were split up into groups to complete a presentation on a characteristic of scripting language. This very much helped me complete the first part of the assignment because it saved me time from doing further research and helped me understand the task more. A weakness of today is that I struggled a little bit from working through JavaScript tutorials on Code Academy this afternoon as it is not very similar to HTML that I found out.

The next assignment that I have due is U13 work which is due the 3rd of October. I then have to complete U20 A2T1 and U41 T1 and T2

Confidently explain how a texture is painted, and applied to a model
Identify differences between modelling methods
Create models using different modelling methods

Today we started writing the Unit 41 assignment and I am confident in writing it up before it is due so it wont be late. We also had an informational lesson in today's tutor hour about Terrorism. I learnt the actual definition of it which is the use of violence against civilians. I original thought that it was killing but it doesn't have to be. In the rest of the day, we played around in blender and created some 3D models such as altering a Teapot and using box models to create basic models.

The next deadlines we have are both task one and two for unit 41 and they are due on the 6th of October.
